Hip-Hop

Here's what Rap artist Jay-Z had to say about Hip-hop

" Well, you've got to have something to talk about. People want to hear the struggle, the story. They want to hear something they can relate to. Back in the day, of course, the audience for hip-hop was young black dudes, and they wanted to hear something that they can relate to. They could go home, and they're standing in front of the mirror, and they're singing, and it's close to their own story. So that's what hip-hop was built on, right there; you've got to have a story. You know, I have a struggle right now: my struggle to maintain my own identity in the midst of all this."

Here's what a few of our viewers had to say!

"Hip-hop, is everything, the way we talk, the way we dress, the way we walk, the way we act. It's everything! Rap is just a Branch of hip-hop. R&B, a branch of hip-hop. It's an art from, way to stress our freedom of expression and speech. Hip-hop is us, and it has an effect everywhere, not only is it a legacy, but history in the making."

"I think hip hop music is basically a way for black artiest to express themselves or tell there life story through music.
hip hop is a culture, and rap it a part of it so in a way rap and hip hop are the same thing so is r&b."

"I think hip hop is just music that can relate to da urban population and in one way or another rap and hip hop r the same thing."
